Halwyn's Tea Garden, Cornwall

It's no secret that I love tea, I love cake and I love the outdoors. Combine all three together and what do you have? My version of heaven!
Hidden at the end of a winding Cornish country lane within a tunnel of trees lies a true gem: Halwyn's Tea Garden. Situated on a grassy green hill with stunning views overlooking the River Fal stands a picturesque cottage amongst a pretty flower garden. With the sun shining, we sat down at a table in the peaceful garden and watching the boats slowly float by along the water.
What makes Halwyn's Tea Garden truly special, aside from the beautiful setting and delicious food, is the fact that the charming little cottage is actually home to the owners, which they open to the public after 11am. As a result, the atmosphere is truly cosy and relaxing, and you instantly feel welcomed by the chatty and friendly staff as soon as you arrive.

For a small place the menu is surprisingly extensive, with a variety of sandwiches and plenty of drinks on offer. Although a truly English afternoon tea obviously calls for a refreshing pot of tea, even on a beautifully hot and sunny day I can't resist a hot chocolate, particularly one topped marshmallows, whipped cream and a Malteser! And, of course, I couldn't say "no" to one of their delicious home-made cakes. Although I was tempted by the chocolate Malteser fudge cake, I decided to branch away from the chocolate (with the exception of my hot chocolate, of course) and went for the raspberry and elderflower cake. Deliciously soft and light with a subtle and unique flavour of elderflower - the perfect cake for summer!
Bonus points for the adorable knitted tea cosies!
Recently it was announced that the owners are moving house in September and, to my dismay, were originally planning on closing Halwyn's Tea Garden. However, following the huge support and love from customers, they have decided to continue the tea garden at their new place. If it's even half as charming as it is at the moment, I know it will be a success!

Anyone else suddenly have a desire to open up their own tea garden?

Love, Beth xxx
