Trebah Garden, Cornwall

Summer is a season full of beautiful things: BBQs, sunshine (admittedly a little sporadic in England), and flowers. One of my favourite things to do on a sunny summer day is go for a long walk, particularly around a gorgeous garden in full bloom - so quintessentially English! Trebah Garden has been on my "to visit" list for a while, so on a warm sunny day, my sister and I decided to explore the sub-tropic garden. From a private beach to an ampitheatre, Trebah Garden is truly special. So if you love winding pathways, hidden gems, and flowers galore, you've come to the right place!

It's not difficult to find a peaceful spot within the gardens, such as the Koi Pond. Take a seat in the shade and watch the fish swim around whilst listening to the sounds of the cascading waterfall.
Follow the different paths through the woods and see what treasures you'll find. Perhaps you'll discover an ampitheatre at the end!
Step into Thumbelina's tiny shoes and wander through a different kind of forest, winding underneath Gunnera Passage whilst streams of sunlight filter through the gaps above.

During the summer you'll be greeted with a blue, white and pink sea of beautiful hydrangeas in Hydrangea Valley.
FYI, hydrangeas don't actually smell like anything...
Of course a beautiful garden wouldn't be complete without an elegant Monet-esque bridge passing over a lake.
Beyond the lake you'll find a secluded private beach where you can take a break from your garden explorations and sit back on the sand with an ice cream in hand.
Before you relax on the beach though, be sure to turn around and take in the beautiful view back up the lake and garden towards the house all the way on the other end. It's almost as if you've just stepped into a painting.
Spot my fellow photographer amongst the plants! Trebah Garden is full of gorgeous walkways hidden within the trees, such as the oriental Water Garden. Listen to the peaceful trickling of the natural spring cascading down little waterfalls whilst you meander through colourful plants. I'm taking note of the white plant below for my future garden (if anyone knows the name of it, please tell me!).
With hidden gems round every corner, you can easily spend hours exploring; we had to walk round the garden twice to make sure we'd visited it all! The gardens are probably at their finest during summer when the field of hydrangeas are in full bloom, although if you visit in spring you'll be treated to beautiful rhododendrons. Adult tickets cost £9, but they do do student discount (here's a little secret for you, if you are a student at University of Exeter, Cornwall Campus, or Falmouth University, you can buy your ticket for just £2.50!). You're guaranteed to leave with floral inspiration and a little bit of garden envy!
 What's your favourite garden?

Love, Beth xxx
